Karachi:PPI's Larkana District Correspondent Jamal Dawoodpoto passed away today in Karachi. He was 65.

Jamal, a resident of Naundero town, had suffered a heart attack three days back and was later hit by a paralysis stroke. He was under treatment at Memon Hospital Karachi, where he passed away today, his son told.

Jamal is survived by a widow, five sons and two daughters.

Jamal was the most active correspondent of PPI. He was a multimedia journalist based in Larkana, Sindh. He worked multifarious beats including health, crimes, politics, and education. He played his full role in conveying the problems of the poor, destitute and oppressed to the media with honesty.

When the Sindh Graduate Association was banned in 1983 during Gen Zia era, he took over as Secretary General of the association.

As soon as the news of his death was heard, a wave of grief spread among journalist’s community, his close friends, relatives and associates. Naundero Press Club President Latif Solangi and Union of Journalists Larkana Division President have expressed condolence over the demise of Jamal Dawoodpoto. Union of Journalists Larkana Division President has announced a three-day mourning.

PPI staff, including Chairman Owais Aslam Ali and Bureau Chief M Nawaz Khuhro, have expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Jamal Dawoodpoto. They prayed to Allah, the Almighty, to rest the departed soul in paradise and give courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
