Islamabad, April 13, 2020 (PPI-OT): President Dr. Arif Alvi held consultative conference with all provincial Governors and President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and sought their cooperation and suggestions to meet the challenge of Covid-19 Pandemic. All Governors presented their respective views and briefed the president about the situation arising out of current pandemic. They appreciated the measures taken by the government against the spread of Covid-19 Pandemic. The Governors and President of AJK expressed satisfaction over the level of cooperation, in term of medical equipment and financial assistance under the Ehsaas Program, being provided to provinces by the Federal Government.
They appreciated the cooperation of Ulema and people in complying with the health guidelines provided by the government in view of Corona pandemic. The President advised the Governors to further enhance coordination with provinces as well with the Federation so as to effectively combat the disease. The meeting adopted unanimous resolution condemning the shelling of Indian security forces on Line of Control and denying access to medical facilities to the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir while using corona pandemic as an excuse to further prolong the lockdown imposed by India for the last eight months.
The meeting also lauded the Ehsaas Programme and other health initiatives taken by the federal government. The participants also appealed to the people to strictly follow the guidelines about social distancing. It supported the idea of smart lockdown that allows only essential industries, like healthcare, food and energy, to operate. The meeting appreciated the Prime Minister’s statement for our need for debt relief.
Meeting also expressed satisfaction over crops situation in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as both the provinces have benefitted from good rains this year. The meeting specially lauded the services of health care workers and providers of other essential services. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Masood Khan, President AJK, Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, Governor Punjab, Mr. Imran Ismail, Governor Sindh, Mr. Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Governor Balochistan, Shah Farman, Governor KPK, Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan and Dr. Zafar Mirza, SA to PM on Health.
