Hundreds of protesters staged sit-ins on main highways today, demanding justice for a murdered farmer in Badin. The traffic system on major routes, including the Badin-Tharparkar road, has been severely disrupted following the sit-ins. The demonstration has caused long queues of vehicles, and its cause is the authorities’ failure to arrest an influential feudal lord involved in the murder.
The incident occurred four days ago when a farm laborer, Kailash Kohli, was allegedly shot and killed by feudal lord Sarfaraz Nizamani. According to reports, the dispute began when Kohli built a hut on the feudal lord’s land in Rahu Kohli village.
After the murder, the victim’s relatives initially protested by placing the body on the Badin-Hyderabad Road at Pir Lashari Stop. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Badin intervened and promised the family that the accused would be arrested within 24 hours.
With the deadline long passed and the accused still at large, the Kohli community has expanded their protest. They have been joined by a large coalition of supporters, including hundreds of women and activists from various political and nationalist parties such as JUI, Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Jeay Sindh Mahaz, all demanding the immediate arrest of Sarfaraz Nizamani.
