A protest sit-in staged in Chasma Bypass area of Quetta was called off on Tuesday after successful parleys held between the representatives of Chasma Achozai Dharna Committee and government representatives.
An agreement was signed between the representative of Chasma Achozai Dharna Committee, including Haji Qasim Khan Khilji, Simtullah son of Char Gul and Saadullah Tokhi and government committee, including Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Kakar, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment, Naseem-ur-Rehman Tokhi and Commissioner Quetta Division, Hamza Shafqaat.
Terms of the agreement, inter alia, included providing healthcare facilities to the injured of the incident, compensation to the victims and construction of a committee to decide the issue of land dispute in Chasma Achozai area of Quetta.
It is pertinent to mention here that four men were killed and 24 others injured during firing after district administration started demolishing illegal structures in Chasma Achozai area of Quetta in October 6, 2024.
