LAHORE:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Monday filed an application before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for re-counting of the PP-7 results in which the PMLN candidate Raja Sagheer clinched victory.
The defeated candidate of PTI filed the vote recount application. ECP polling staff has started re-counting the PP-7. PMLN Raja Sagheer Ahmed got 68906 votes while PTI candidate Lt Col (rtd) Shabir Awan got 68857 votes. Raja won the crucial content with a margin of 49 votes.
Rawalpindi district administration had declared 76 polling stations sensitive in PP-7, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan and provided foolproof security arrangements, deploying extra force to control the law and order situation during by-elections to be held on Sunday.
The 28 special police pickets were set up in PP-7 to guard the 266 polling stations where over 4,000 police personnel were deployed. There were 335,295 voters in PP-7, including 171,464 males and 163,831 females. PP-7, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan fall under the constituency of NA-57.
