Lahore: Punjab Police’s Special Operations Cell has successfully extradited Farhan, alias Shani, a fugitive involved in an attempted murder case, from Oman. The arrest marks the fourth extradition of a fugitive in the first 20 days of the year, reflecting the department’s intensified efforts to bring individuals wanted in serious crimes back to Pakistan.
According to a statement by Punjab Police, Farhan was wanted by Sialkot Police for allegedly shooting and injuring a citizen named Tanveer in 2024. Following the incident, Farhan fled to Oman, prompting a persistent pursuit by the police to secure his arrest and return.
IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the efforts of the RPO Gujranwala and the police team involved in Farhan’s capture. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration with Interpol and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to continue the crackdown on fugitives abroad.
The successful extradition of Farhan underscores Punjab Police’s commitment to bringing fugitives to justice, a mission that Dr. Anwar has vowed to pursue with increased vigor in the coming months.
