Law enforcement agencies across Punjab have been put on high alert to ensure the security of churches, with officials directed to remain exceptionally vigilant against potential threats from miscreants during Christian worship services.
In a statement on Sunday, Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, directed that all officers and personnel assigned to protect these places of worship remain highly alert at all times. He emphasized the critical importance of keeping a constant watch for any suspicious activity.
The IG ordered the continuation of comprehensive search and sweep operations in the vicinity of churches, Christian communities, and other sensitive locations throughout the province to preempt any hostile actions.
Dr. Usman Anwar also appealed for societal cooperation, urging religious scholars, representatives of the Christian community, and members of peace committees to actively promote interfaith harmony as a cornerstone of provincial peace.
