Rain, snowfall expected in northern regions

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) informed today that during the next 24 hours, cloudy weather with rain and snowfall is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat. Rain with wind and thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in northeastern Punjab and the Potohar region. Moderate to dense fog is expected to persist in some plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night hours.

Past 24-Hour Weather Report: Rain and snowfall occurred at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan over the past 24 hours. Cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed in other parts of the country, with very cold conditions in northern Balochistan. Moderate to dense fog persisted in most districts of Punjab and upper Sindh.

In terms of rainfall, Chitral recorded 73mm, Mir Khani 29mm, Dir Upper 27mm, Dir Lower 3mm, Drosh 20mm, Kalam 4mm, and both Pattan and Parachinar 3mm. Malam Jabba and Kakul received 2mm each, while Skardu in Gilgit Baltistan recorded 4mm.

Snowfall was recorded in Chitral with 11 inches, while Kalam and Drosh both received 2 inches, and Malam Jabba reported 1 inch of snow. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were -11°C in Ziarat, -9°C in Kalat, -8°C in Quetta, -6°C in Gupis, -4°C in Bagrote and Parachinar, and -3°C in Hunza and Leh.
