Rains-floods claim eight more lives in KP

PESHAWAR: Heavy rains and floods claimed eight more lives and left three others with critical injuries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, according to a report of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued Tuesday.

Peshawar PDMA spokesperson said that they had set up 116 relief camps for the flood victims all around the province with the figures of 77 in Noshehra, 11 in DIK, 17 in Charsada, 7 in Dir upper, and two in both Malakand and Mansehra inhabiting around 50000 people and providing them with basic necessities.

The authority along with the district administration extracted around 500 people stuck in the floods and provided at least 15000 people with medicines and food survival packages using helicopters from upper and lower Kohistan, Chitral, and upper Dir. PDMA issued a funding of Rs220 million for 11 districts of flood affected Peshawar said the Director General PDMA Shareef Hussain.

PDMA DG issued funds of Rs30 million each for lower Kohistan and Tank Rs20 million each for Noshera, Swat and Chitral, Rs15 million for Shangla district and a total of Rs850 million to different flood affected districts of Peshawar since July for tackling and facing the emergency situations. Peshawar PDMA spokesperson said that aid and relief activities are going on in the flood affected districts.
