Raising voice against revoking special status of Kashmir urged

Brussels, August 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed has called for raising voice against the latest Indian decision of revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Ali Raza Syed in a statement issue in Brussels said, imposing new legislation by the Indian government for abolition of special status of Jammu and Kashmir cannot stop struggle of Kashmiri people for freedom from Indian occupation.

He said that India had already tried to oppress the people of Kashmir by imposing presidential and governor rules and a puppet regime in occupied Kashmir. Condemning the new Indian development regarding Kashmir, he said that Jammu and Kashmir was not a part of India but was an internationally-recognized disputed territory. He said, India wants to change demographic situation of Jammu and Kashmir but this evil desire of New Delhi will not be materialized.

He said that there should be a plebiscite under United Nations supervision in Jammu and Kashmir to make logical political fate of the disputed territory. The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU said that all of the Indian political tricks and illicit practices in Jammu and Kashmir under its Constitution were unacceptable to the Kashmiris.

He said that Kashmiri people were struggling for their right to self-determination but India wanted to show that occupied Kashmir was also its integral part. But Kashmir is a disputed territory and the people of Kashmir just want freedom from Indian occupation, he added.

He said that it was a fact that large scale human rights violations were being committed by the Indian forces in Kashmir. Indian authorities are engaged to press the mass resistance by use of force and brutalities.

He said that Kashmiri people would continue their struggle for freedom from Indian rule. The Chairman KC-EU urged Pakistan to make immediate diplomatic steps for raising this issue at international forums including United Nations, EU and other international bodies as well as call extra ordinary sessions of Security Council of UN and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The United Nation should also send its peace forces in the occupied valley in order to prevent violation of human rights in that occupied territory, he maintained.

He also called upon the international community to take serious notice of the severe situation in held Kashmir. It is important to mention that by issuing a presidential order, India on Monday has announced to abrogate articles 370 and 35A from its constitution, which gives special status and rights to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
