Rawalpindi Traffic Police provided licensing facilities to a record 1,386,887 citizens in 2025, according to a new annual performance report, which also highlighted significant technological upgrades aimed at ensuring transparency and eliminating the “recommendation culture.”

A traffic police spokesperson, detailing the specifics today, said that within the past year, more than 434,000 individuals obtained learner permits, and a record 244,825 new driving licenses were issued to successful applicants in the district.

The annual statistics also show that in 2025, 61,535 citizens had their driving licenses renewed. According to the report, additionally, 3,932 international licenses, 1,884 duplicate licenses, and 6,174 license endorsement cases were processed.

In addition to the issuance of specific licenses, the traffic police representative stated that over 630,000 residents were provided with other related licensing services throughout the year.

On a broader scale, the spokesperson said that under a provincial initiative, more than five million citizens across the province downloaded e-driving licenses last year.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam confirmed that the infrastructure was expanded to meet the demand. “For the convenience of citizens, driving testing centers were also increased across the district last year,” said the CTO, adding that “two new licensing vans and one additional police station facility were added in Rawalpindi district.”

Explaining the mobile units, the CTO said, “Through mobile licensing vans, citizens are being provided licensing facilities at their doorsteps.”

Discussing efforts to improve integrity, the Rawalpindi CTO explained that “the recommendation culture has been completely eliminated through computerized sign tests and video-automated driving tests.”

“In the interest of merit and transparency, the entire driving license process is monitored by cameras,” said Farhan Aslam. He also pointed to the simplified procedure, saying, “Through a one-window operation, licensing services are being made possible with only the original national identity card.”

The CTO concluded by saying that the force is committed to modernization, and stressed that “Rawalpindi Traffic Police is making full use of modern technology.” He also advised the public that “for online licensing facilities, citizens should use the DLIMS website.”
