Rising encroachments torment citizens in Mirpurkhas

In Mirpurkhas, the city’s main roads have been reduced to narrow pathways, turning everyday travel into a struggle for pedestrians amid torments.

According to a report, due to the negligence and unexplained silence of the Municipal Corporation’s Encroachment Department officials, the city’s once 40-foot wide roads have now shrunk to only 20 feet in some areas. The encroachments, including those by illegal rickshaw stands and street vendors, have left citizens to face severe traffic congestion and limited space for walking.

Notably, the streets surrounding key locations like Civil Hospital Road, Post Office Chowk, Market Chowk, and Biladia Chowk have become a daily nightmare for residents. The bottlenecks caused by unlawful encroachments have led to prolonged traffic jams, with some waiting hours to get through.

Residents have called on City Mayor Abdul Rauf to take swift action and hold the Encroachment Department accountable. They urged him to ensure that the court orders regarding the removal of illegal structures are enforced without delay.
