Rival Business Factions Form Historic Alliance Amidst Economic Turmoil

Citing an urgent need to address unresolved issues amid a challenging economic climate, two of Pakistan’s most prominent and historically rival business groups, the United Business Group (UBG) and the Businessmen Panel (BMP), have announced a landmark alliance to present a unified front to the government.

Former President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and current UBG President, Zubair Tufail, today emphasized that the prevailing economic conditions demand a united struggle from the entire business community, positioning the UBG-BMP accord as the first step in this collaborative effort.

According to a statement from UBG”s central spokesperson, Gulzar Feroz, Tufail welcomed the new partnership as a sign of strength for the country”s business sector. He extended congratulations to key figures including former Federal Minister for Commerce Dr. Gohar Ejaz, UBG Patron-in-Chief S.M. Tanveer, and BMP Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar on finalizing the joint venture.

Tufail articulated that businesses across the nation are worried about their long-standing problems and have formed this strong, unified platform to ensure their collective voice reaches policymakers effectively.

The UBG President expressed confidence that the alliance would help steer the national economy towards progress. He also acknowledged the role of Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir in strengthening the country”s defense and economy.

In addition to bolstering the national economy, Tufail stated that the coalition is expected to significantly reduce the millions of rupees the two groups would otherwise spend on internal elections.

The UBG President concluded with an appeal to Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet, urging them to prioritize genuine consultation with the business community and to resolve their outstanding issues promptly.
