Senior Journalist Syed Muhammad Sufi Passes Away, Sindh Chief Minister Expresses Grief

Senior journalist Syed Muhammad Sufi passed away after a prolonged illness. The 80-year-old Syed Muhammad Sufi also endured the hardships of imprisonment during the struggle for freedom of the press during martial law.

He was arrested in 1977 for opposing Zia-ul-Haq’s martial law and spent several months in Karachi and Sahiwal jails. Syed Muhammad Sufi is survived by his widow, 4 sons, and hundreds of students. He was associated with several newspapers and magazines.

Syed Muhammad Sufi was considered among the senior-most members of the Karachi Press Club. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of senior journalist Syed Muhammad Sufi.

Syed Murad Ali Shah prayed for the departed soul and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
