Authorities have apprehended seven individuals and confiscated a substantial quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition as part of a city-wide security initiative.

The arrests were carried out by police teams from the Bhara Kahu, Sumbal, and Shahzad Town stations, acting on special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The operation is a component of a swiftly progressing campaign to make the capital a weapon-free zone.

SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza affirmed that a zero-tolerance policy against illicit firearms is being strictly enforced. He emphasized that the primary commitment of the Islamabad Police is the protection of citizens” lives and property.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the detained suspects, and a more detailed investigation is currently in progress. The SSP also issued a call for citizens to register any licensed firearms at their respective police stations promptly.

The Islamabad Police has appealed for full public cooperation, urging residents to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the relevant authorities or the police helpline ‘Pucar-15’ without delay.
