Several shopkeepers fined, one jailed for selling goods above official rates

LARKANA:Amid lockdown and start of the holy month of Ramazan, several shopkeepers were fined and one other was jailed for selling essential goods above official rates and not displaying rate lists in Badeh town of Larkana district on Saturday.

Mukhtiarkar Dokri, Tariq Inam Junejo, visited different areas of the town and checked price lists at retail shops. He found several shopkeepers selling goods above official rates and not displaying the price list.

Mukhtiarkar fined several shopkeepers and arrested one shopkeeper, Wahid Khokhar, for overcharging and not paying the fine money. He sent him to jail. The prices of essential commodities have been raised in the town with the start of Ramazan.

Meanwhile, a lockdown was observed in Badeh town to contain the coronavirus today. All bazaars and markets remained completely closed in the town. Only retail shops were opened to provide necessary daily use items to the citizens.

The laborer community has badly been affected by the lockdown, who needs urgent relief from the government, including ration, to feed their children. Large public gatherings, weddings and congregations, conferences, and other events have also been banned in the city.
