Sindh Government Targets Forged Vehicle Certificates in Public Safety Blitz

The Sindh government has launched a significant crackdown on vehicles operating with fraudulent fitness certificates, a practice described by officials as a major threat to public safety.

Under directives from Senior Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) Secretary has been instructed today to immediately revoke the route permits of all vehicles found with counterfeit documentation. Authorities are also mandated to update a live departmental portal with the records of these vehicles, register legal cases against the violators, and present a comprehensive report on the measures taken within three days.

Minister Memon stated that some transport operators were colluding with agents to procure falsified fitness certificates, thereby circumventing mandatory physical vehicle inspections.

Characterizing the use of forged certificates as a “serious crime,” the senior minister asserted that the government will not permit anyone to endanger the lives and property of citizens. He stressed that this illegal practice constitutes a grave violation of the law and poses a direct risk to the public.

The minister affirmed the administration”s commitment to establishing a safe, transparent, and lawful public transport system. He issued a stern warning that any individual implicated in this illicit activity, including both transporters and their agents, will face legal consequences without discrimination.
