Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori today stated that traders are being threatened with extortion calls originating from Iran and acts of terrorism from Afghanistan, in what he described as a coordinated effort to obstruct Pakistan’s development.
He further alleged that India-sponsored terrorism aims to hinder the nation’s economic progress. Speaking to media representatives, the Governor confirmed that international police organisation Interpol has been notified regarding the threats, adding that the country”s traders and industrialists are fully aware of the situation.
Mr Tessori asserted that Pakistan has achieved significant success on the diplomatic front under the command of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, a triumph he claimed has diplomatically isolated India on the global stage. He remarked that the international community now recognises Pakistan’s diplomatic strength and leadership, and predicted that the positive impact of these achievements will soon be reflected in the national economy.
In response to political questions, the Governor insisted that former premier Imran Khan must first account for his four-and-a-half-year term in office. He made a pointed remark concerning the previous Punjab administration, suggesting that if former Chief Minister Usman Buzdar were handed over to him for four days, all financial facts, including details related to Farah Gogi, would be brought to light.
These views were expressed during a Christmas ceremony at the Governor House, where Mr Tessori cut a cake with leaders of the Christian community. He noted this was the third consecutive year for the event, reflecting Pakistan’s values of inclusivity, religious harmony, and tolerance.
The Governor highlighted that his official residence provides equal opportunities for all minority communities to hold their religious celebrations, which aligns with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for a nation with full freedom for minorities to observe their festivals.
A formal invitation was extended to the Christian community for a grand Christmas celebration scheduled to be held at the Governor House on December 25, which was attended by a large number of the community”s leaders.
During the event, Governor Tessori also urged citizens to promote Pakistan’s development and prosperity through the use of positive trends on social media. He awarded a shield and a cash prize to Muhammad Shafi for securing a prominent position in the Larkana Board of Secondary Education.
