Sindh Local Government Minister assures Karachi Press Club of providing 700 new residential plots

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani on Tuesday announced the provision of residential plots to 700 journalists. During a meeting with Karachi Press Club (KPC) officials at his office in the Sindh Assembly, Ghani reiterated the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) commitment to the welfare of journalists, referring to past housing projects initiated during Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s tenure. He promised to expedite development work in existing journalists’ colonies managed by the Malir Development Authority (MDA) and Lyari Development Authority (LDA).

KPC President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan raised several concerns with the minister, including plot allotments, payment structures, and the progress of development work. Ghani highlighted the PPP’s role in supporting press freedom and addressing the financial and residential needs of journalists. He mentioned special grants allocated in the current budget for the KPC, other press clubs, journalist organizations, and individual reporters. He assured the KPC representatives that their requests regarding development work and payments within the MDA and LDA’s jurisdiction would be addressed. Jamili and Khan expressed gratitude for the minister’s commitment.
