Strike observed in Larkana, Madeji against JSQM chief’s arrest

LARKANA: Activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) held a protest demonstrations in Larkana and in Madeji on Tuesday against the arrest of their party chairman Sanan Qureshi from Karachi and other activists. A shutter down strikes were also observed in both the cities due to which trade in several areas remained shut.

 

In Larkana, Tariq Korai, Faraz Khuhwar, Imtiaz Morio and others held a demo and staged a sit-in on Jinnah Bagh roundabout holding party flags in their hands and shouting slogans in favour of their demand.

 

They said that under a preplanned conspiracy peaceful massive protest was turned into a violent riot at Bahria Town never by the protesters but FIRs have been registered against leaders of various nationalist parties and the participants which is unjust and amount to suppress the struggle for saving their lands. They said the arrest of Sanan Qureshi has not yet been made public hence unrest is felt among the activists widely about his safety and wellbeing.

 

Likewise, party’s Madeji Chapter activists and members of civil society also held separate demonstrations outside the Press Club against the arrest of Sanan Qureshi and workers demanding their immediate release.

 

Abdul Ghani, Danish Mehdi, Aslam Lasharo, Basit Shaikh, Tauqeer Abbas and others said that police trespassed and forcibly entered into the house of Sanan Qureshi in the wee hours which is a clear violation of basic human rights. They said it is an attempt and a conspiracy to sabotage the movement of Sindhi people to save their homeland’s lands from land grabbing mafia. They said three workers of Madeji have also been arrested which include Nazar Muhammad Brohi, Tanveer Memon and another and they should also be released immediately or else, they warned, roads will be blocked across Sindh through protest demonstrations in the province to seek justice and rights.
