LARKANA: The protesting members of Primary Teachers Association (PTA) called off their token hunger strike here on Tuesday on 24th day when they were assured of supplying required furniture to the primary schools by Tariq Anwer Siyal, PPP, Bakrani president and UC chairman Ali Dino Kango and fulfillment of other legal demands. Siyal said that justified demands of the teachers community will be resolved by the PPP on priority basis because teachers are precious for us.
On the other hand, protesting teachers including Ghulamullah Sangi, Amrat Lal Oad, Afsar Ali Qureshi, Karim Mekan, Aijaz Dhamrah,, Ayaz Tunio and others said that education secretary had Akbar Leghari imposed ban on transfer of teachers but administrative officers of education are constantly violating his orders glaringly and openly which has created unrest among the teaching community as junior teachers are being posted ignoring seniors as headmasters on political influence basis which is tormenting them. They said the Sindh government released billions of rupees after devastating floods to end furniture shortage in schools but acute shortage is still persisting in districts’ rural and city schools which is shameful as the little children are getting education while sitting on the floor.
They said gazetted Taluka Education Officer (Primary) has not yet been posted in Larkana bypassing the right of seniors which has created a lot of issues including corruption. They said that upgradation has not been awarded to test pass teachers from BPS-9 to 14 as agreed by the education secretary from February 2021. They also demanded to release monthly salaries of IBA teachers immediately who have been working since April 2022 which is being question mark on the working of Larkana bosses and those who submitted their data very late to Karachi be also punished and exposed. They also demanded appointment of teachers in the third phase quickly to establish merit.
