The 75th death anniversary of the leader of the freedom movement, Maulana Hasrat Mohani, was observed today, whose significant contributions as an Urdu poet, journalist, and political figure remain prominent in the subcontinent even today.
Born as Syed Fazl-ul-Hasan, Mohani emerged as a fearless advocate in the struggle for independence, enduring the hardships of imprisonment at the hands of British colonial authorities due to his active participation. His steadfastness became more evident when he was imprisoned due to an article published in his magazine “Urdu-e-Mualla.”
Mohani’s literary heritage is vast, with “Kulliyat-e-Hasrat” and “Sharah-e-Kalam-e-Ghalib” standing out for their poetic brilliance. His critical analyses in “Nukaat-e-Sukhan,” along with “Tazkirat-ul-Shuara” and “Mushahadat-e-Zindan,” highlight his intellectual depth and commitment to literature.
As the nation reflects on his enduring impact, Maulana Hasrat Mohani’s poetry, political leadership, and multifaceted services as an advocate of freedom underscore the lasting influence of his life’s work.
