In their separate statements today on the occasion of Pakistan’s Accession Day, both leaders highlighted the long-standing dispute of Jammu and Kashmir, which remains unresolved despite United Nations Security Council resolutions recognizing the Kashmiri people’s right to decide their future.
Expressing grave concern, Zardari and Sharif pointed out the ongoing denial of this fundamental right and the severe human rights violations occurring in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take decisive action to uphold this inalienable right of the Kashmiri people.
