The beautiful town of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy, has bestowed a unique honor upon Prince Karim Aga Khan IV by naming its central square after him today. This tribute was presented in recognition of the Prince’s extensive philanthropic services, and a bronze statue was also installed in his honor.
The distinguished ceremony held in Porto Cervo was attended by prominent figures, including the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community and the 50th Imam, His Highness Prince Rahim Al-Husseini Aga Khan V. Accompanying him were his sons Prince Irfan and Prince Sinan, and his uncle, Prince Amyn Muhammad Aga Khan.
During the ceremony, the Mayor of Arzachena revealed that Prince Rahim Aga Khan V would be granted honorary citizenship, the same honor that was bestowed upon Prince Karim Aga Khan IV in 1965. This act reaffirms the longstanding relationship between the Aga Khan family and the local community.
The ceremony was not only a celebration of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV’s legacy but also a renewed acknowledgment of the significant influence and services of the Aga Khan family in the region.
