The use of force on Tehreek-e-Labbaik’s rally is a regrettable and unwise action::Milli Yakjehti Council Pakistan

The President of Milli Yakjehti Council Pakistan and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, has strongly condemned the government’s use of force against the rally organized by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan in support of Gaza. In a video message released on Sunday, he said that the use of force on Tehreek-e-Labbaik’s rally is a regrettable and unwise action, and an attempt should not be made to worsen the situation.

The President of Milli Yakjehti Council Pakistan, Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, said that a violent response to an issue that could have been resolved through dialogue and wisdom was an unwise action. He criticized the administration for being “accustomed to using force in every matter,” a trend which, in his view, is promoting instability across the country.

Dr. Zubair pointed to past examples where similar situations were resolved peacefully through mediation. He maintained that if the government had shown seriousness and patience, the current situation could have been prevented from escalating into a major confrontation.

The religious leader described government actions such as raids on the residences of Tehreek-e-Labbaik leaders and the arrest of their relatives as “open provocation.” He warned that such measures could be exploited by anti-state elements.

In his message, Dr. Zubair issued a dual appeal, advising the government to immediately opt for the path of negotiation instead of retaliatory actions. Simultaneously, he also urged the leadership of Tehreek-e-Labbaik to exercise restraint and prioritize the national interest to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

Highlighting the country’s delicate situation, he mentioned the resurgence of terrorism, the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, tensions on the borders, and regional instability. He warned that “at such a time, internal discord will prove detrimental to the country.”

Discussing his association with the movement, Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair mentioned his past engagements with its late founder, Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, and subsequent consultations with his son, Hafiz Saad Rizvi. He expressed regret that his “sincere efforts” to promote unity were not given “due attention,” and said that had they been, the current crisis could have been averted.

He presented clear demands, calling for the immediate release of all arrested workers of Tehreek-e-Labbaik and their family members. He also stressed the recognition of the constitutional and democratic right to peaceful protest, an immediate halt to the use of force, and a commitment to resolving the conflict through mutual dialogue.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Zubair reiterated that negotiation and mutual understanding are the only viable solutions to complex issues. He emphasized that Pakistan cannot afford any internal conflict or civil strife, and stressed the dire need for peace, stability, and national unity.
