Srinagar, October 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of candidates, who had applied for admissions in different ITI colleges, have suffered due to military siege and Internet blockade. Over 10,000 candidates, who had applied for admissions in different ITI colleges across occupied Kashmir, have suffered due to three-month long inordinate delay in the completion of the whole process, thanks to the Internet blockade.
Although the authorities are claiming that 2019-20 session will start by the end of this month, chances of classes beginning this month look bleak due to the prevailing uncertain situation. “The Technical Education Department had started on-line admission for all ITI colleges this year. The admission process, which was scheduled to be completed by the end of August this year, could not be completed due to the situation which emerged post abrogation of Article 370”, an official of the Department, wishing anonymity, said, adding, “Snapping of Internet services after abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, had further worsened the situation”.
There are total 55 ITI colleges-29 in Kashmir Valley and 26 in Jammu region. Sessions in these colleges usually start in the first week of August every year but this time classes for session 2019-20 is yet to begin due to delay in the completion of the admission process. Admitting that the process has been delayed, Director Technical Education Dr Ravi Shanker shifted all blames on the prevailing situation in J and K.
