TLP continues protest in Karachi

KARACHI: Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Tuesday continued protest in Karachi for a second consecutive day against detention of its chief Saad Rizvi.

The protesters blocked several busy roads, including II Chundrigar Road, Garden, Jail Chowrangi, Numaish, Malir, Baldia Town, Airport Road, Tower, North Nazimabad and Hassan Square, blocking traffic. However, protesters were dispersed at some places in Karachi.

Roads were closed in the Hub River area, Baldia No 4 and Korangi No 2 where traffic remained suspended. The TLP is protesting blasphemous caricatures published in France and demanding that the French ambassador be sent home and import of goods from that country banned.

Countrywide, three people were killed in two days protest and more than 100 supporters were arrested. The protests were also held in Lahore, Islamabad and other cities. In Lahore, protesters beat a cop to death during a clash in the Shahdara area.
