Secretary Population Balochistan Abdullah Khan convened a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Yasir Khan Dashti on Tuesday.
The meeting, held at the DC’s office, was attended by Divisional Director Health and Medical Superintendent of Teaching Hospital Khuzdar, Dr Tahira Baloch, and District Population Welfare Officer (DPWO) Dr Khalida Umar.
Discussions centered on strengthening postpartum and post-abortion care alongside family planning services in the region. Officials decided to enhance the Reproductive Health Centre (RHC) Khuzdar, with the Deputy Commissioner pledging efforts to upgrade its facilities.
It was further resolved to establish a Family Welfare Centre (FWC) at Naal Hospital to expand access to essential family planning services. The Community-Based Family Welfare Workers of the Population Department will also contribute to polio eradication efforts. The DPWO noted that five workers are already engaged in this initiative.
Highlighting the importance of service integration, the Secretary Population suggested allocating space within Rural Health Centres (RHCs) to relocate FWCs, ensuring improved coordination and service delivery.
The meeting underscored the provincial government’s commitment to addressing reproductive health and family planning needs in Balochistan.
