Top Political Leaders Demand Immediate End to Imran Khan’s Solitary Confinement

Key political figures have strongly condemned the solitary confinement of PTI founder Imran Khan, demanding his fundamental rights be immediately restored in a significant call to action on Wednesday. The demand emerged from an important meeting between Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Asad Qaiser.

During their discussions, which covered the nation’s prevailing political circumstances and regional developments, both leaders voiced their unified opposition to the conditions of the former prime minister’s detention, describing it as a violation of his constitutional and legal protections.

Asad Qaiser also briefed the TTAP chief on his recent dialogue with JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman, taking him into confidence regarding the outcomes of their discussions held earlier in the week.

Expressing deep concern over the failure of the Istanbul talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the two leaders emphasized that all bilateral issues, especially those concerning security, must be addressed through peaceful negotiation. They concurred that confrontation would not benefit either nation, asserting that war and hostility are not viable solutions.

In a move to foster regional peace, Achakzai extended his support for the establishment of a peace jirga in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He assured that TTAP would be an active participant in the initiative.

Furthermore, Achakzai revealed that his movement has finalized arrangements for a series of public gatherings across the country in November. These events are aimed at mobilizing public support for the supremacy of the constitution.

The backdrop to this meeting included an earlier engagement where a PTI delegation, led by Qaiser, met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman. They discussed the appointment of Mehmood Khan Achakzai as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and the proposed national peace jirga. The PTI representatives expressed their gratitude for the JUI-F’s endorsement on both fronts.

Reaffirming their commitment to democracy and the rule of law, both Achakzai and Qaiser stressed the necessity of enforcing complete constitutional governance in the country. They agreed that the opposition in the National Assembly will work to raise national issues through consensus and adopt a constructive political role.
