The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and local traders have launched widespread protests against the controversial Section 37AA of the Federal Budget 2025-26. Large protest banners criticizing the wide-ranging powers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are visible across Karachi.
These banners can be seen at the KCCI head office, seven industrial areas, Federation House, income tax offices, Karachi Press Club, and major commercial centers. The banners condemn the broad and allegedly unnecessary enforcement powers given to the FBR.
The message from the Karachi business community is clear: they will strongly oppose these measures.
