Transporters announce suspension of bus operations against vehicles’ impounding

All Taftan Rakhshan Transporters Alliance announced Monday suspending of bus operations on the Quetta-Taftan route from Dec 23, citing grievances over delays and vehicle impounding.

Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, alliance president Haji Malak Shah said the decision aimed to draw the attention of authorities to longstanding issues affecting transporters. He said buses on National Highway N-40 face repeated stops by security forces, extending the typical eight-hour journey to 16 hours.

Shah added that 12 passenger coaches were being held by Frontier Corps Taftan and Dalbandin, resulting in financial losses for owners.

The alliance demanded the immediate release of the vehicles and a reduction in passenger checks. Shah warned that transporters would continue their protest until their demands are met.
