Islamabad police today claimed to have confiscated a significant cache of illegal armaments, including an MP-5 submachine gun and two shotguns, and arrested two suspects during a targeted police operation in Sangjani.
The raid, part of city-wide safety campaigns, also resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics. From the possession of the two individuals, officers recovered 80 liters of liquor, 13 additional bottles of alcohol, and a large quantity of ammunition.
This effective operation was conducted under the ongoing ‘Nasha Ab Nahi’ and ‘Weapons-Free City’ initiatives, which are being pursued on the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Formal cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, and a further investigation into the matter has been launched.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza stated that a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling and the possession of illegal weapons is being strictly enforced. He emphasized that the protection of citizens” lives and property is the highest priority for the Islamabad Police.
The SSP urged residents to immediately register any licensed firearms they possess at the relevant police stations.
He also called on the public to fully cooperate with law enforcement and to report any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station or via the “Pucar-15” helpline.
