The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has called on the SME sector to ramp up efforts in response to the challenging national scenario attributed to external threats.

Zulfikar Thaver, president of UNISAME, encouraged entrepreneurs to focus on enhancing productivity and maintaining inventory levels, advising against succumbing to fear or panic.

Thaver recommended that entrepreneurs repatriate US Dollars held abroad, anticipating potential strategic measures by the USA to address its economic obligations following decreased exports due to international tariffs. The UNISAME Council proposed diversifying savings into currencies backed by strong export economies.

Emphasizing the importance of import substitution, the Council advised increasing production of goods such as vegetable oil from seeds. They also stressed the necessity of stocking essential relief items including tents, tarpaulins, long-lasting foodstuffs, medicines, and daily use merchandise.

Moreover, the UNISAME Rehnuma committee urged SMEs to ensure their vehicles are well-maintained. Thaver concluded with an expectation of diplomatic intervention to ease current tensions but emphasized the need for SMEs to remain vigilant and prepared.
