The Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) took a significant step in advancing infant and early childhood mental health in Pakistan by hosting a full-day workshop at the University of the Punjab. Titled “Exploring Brain Development and Learning: Prenatal to 5 Years,” the session was part of the Baby Matters Conference 2025, an innovative initiative spearheaded by #babymatterspk.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of educators, parents, pediatric professionals, and curriculum developers to explore the science of early brain development. Led by Ms. Dani Stamm Thomas, an expert from Oregon, USA, and Prof Dr Nadeem Bajwa, a renowned psychiatrist, the event focused on strategies to promote brain development and implement developmentally appropriate practices in various settings.

Dr. Rafia Rafique, Director of IAP, wrapped up the session by underscoring the critical importance of mental health from the earliest years of life. She emphasized the necessity for collaborative and research-based efforts to foster healthy development in young children.
