The United States has expressed interest in investing in Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT), mining, minerals, and energy sectors, it emerged from a high-level meeting at the Department of Commerce.
According to a report released today, a Pakistani delegation led by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with US Commerce Secretary Howard A. Littnick to discuss advancing economic relations.
The finance minister was accompanied by Pakistan”s Secretary Commerce, the nation”s ambassador to the United States, and other trade and economic ministers.
During the discussions, both sides affirmed their mutual desire to enhance economic cooperation, with a particular focus on the fields of trade and investment.
Senator Aurangzeb praised the US Chamber of Commerce for its role in organising the upcoming US-Pakistan Trade and Investment Forum, scheduled for 31st March 2026.
The forum is anticipated to be attended by renowned companies from both nations, alongside ministerial representation from Pakistan and the USA. The finance minister also expressed his hope that the office of the US Commerce Secretary would participate in the event.
Concluding the engagement, both parties reiterated their commitment to furthering their discussions on investments in major projects over the coming months.
