An emotional scene of an elderly citizen in the Landhi area has highlighted the severe and growing water shortage in the city.
On Monday, the visibly distressed elderly citizen described the struggle faced by millions of citizens. With trembling hands and faltering steps, the elderly man said that they have been yearning for a single drop of water for several months.
Expressing his helplessness, he asked the heartbreaking question, “Where should we go?”
Landhi Neighborhood Committee Chairman Kashif Nizami consoled the citizen and appealed to the Karachi Water Corporation and other relevant authorities.
Nizami said, “Our humble request is to allow us to solve these problems on a self-help basis.” “Have mercy on these elderly and poor people who have neither the power nor the financial resources to buy expensive water.”
The community leader issued a further warning, saying that if the government agencies fail to take practical steps, “the silent sighs of the poor will soon shake the corridors of power.”
This incident is being seen not as an isolated story but as a representation of the collective cry of the city’s oppressed and distressed population facing a severe water shortage.
