Srinagar, January 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, describing Kashmir as a flash point between Pakistan and India has appealed to the international community to play role in its settlement in accordance with the UN resolutions.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said there is a need for the international meditation to press India to stop the ongoing human rights violations and to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the relevant UN resolutions. He said the Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg’s mediation offer on the Kashmir dispute clearly indicates that world doesn’t subscribe to India’s claim over Kashmir and New Delhi has the worry that the mediator might propose a solution to the Kashmir issue not to its liking.
Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the killing of a Sikh youth by unidentified gunmen in Tral area of Pulwama district last week, saying that the loss of human lives is deplorable. The statement said that the Sikh community always stood with the Muslims in the ongoing resistance movement even when attempts were made by the Indian agencies to give it a sectarian angle. All 35 Sikh sarpanchs and panchs of Pulwama district have tendered their resignations following the killing.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, addressing condolence meetings in different areas of Islamabad district called for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks involving Pakistan, India and genuine Kashmiri leadership.
The Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi in a statement in Srinagar said that its illegally detained Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, has started hunger strike at Sumbal Sonawari Police Station to press for his demand of an investigation into a murderous assault on him at the Sumbal police station, last month. The statement said that Abdul Samad Inqilabi was threatened by the SHO and DSP Sumbal that he would be killed either in or out of the jail.
Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in different areas of Bandipora, Pulwama and Shopian districts, today. The troops conducted door-to-door searches during the operations.
On the other hand, the government of India has extended special concessions and incentives for central government employees working in occupied Kashmir for two more years till 2020. As per an order issued by the personnel ministry, the concessions and incentives include departmental arrangements for stay, security and transportation for the employees. An official told media that the move is aimed at encouraging more employees from India to work in the occupied territory.
