Karachi:Yet another massive breakdown of electricity in the megacity, Karachi, Monday morning created immense problems for citizens besides exposing vulnerabilities of Karachi Electric (KE), the privately owned power supply monopoly.
Electricity went off in early morning at Fajar time and gradually restored at around 10:00am. Electricity consumers of Karachi faced immense troubles due to non-supply of electricity.
However, in Karachi such major power breakdowns are becoming routine matter, as the megacity does not have alternate arrangements to cope with such situation. The KE does not generate required electricity for the megacity, but mainly depends on purchasing power from the national grid on cheaper rates and sell to the city consumers.
