KE blames KMC for destroying its properties

KARACHI:K-Electric (KE) on Wednesday blamed KMC for continuing its destruction of K-Electric property without serving any advance notice, in blatant disregard of court orders.

In a press released, KE alleged: “As per court orders, KMC is restrained from taking any action against K-Electric without following the procedure of law, however, it continues to violate these orders and has damaged KE infrastructure at Tipu Sultan and North Nazimabad Customer Care Centers respectively creating severe hindrance in KE’s services to its valued customers.”

It said that KMC’s demolition at the respective KE customer care centers had also caused both distress and inconvenience to the power utility’s customers who were forced to leave because of adverse circumstances.

The KE claimed: “It is also worthy of mention that as per the law, and the orders of the court in KE’s suit dated July 01, 2019, no action shall be taken against KE without serving a minimum two-day notice as per law.”

It informed that the municipal body owes PKR 4.11 billion to the power utility and the honorable Supreme Court had directed KMC to start paying monthly electricity bills from April 2019 onward. The power utility once again urged concerned authorities to pay outstanding dues as per the apex court’s orders at the earliest, the KE added.
