Islamabad:The 46th meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice held Thursday under the Chairmanship of Chaudhary Mohammad Ashraf, MNA.
The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee did Fateha for the departed soul of Mr. Mohammad Ayaz Soomro, MNA and Hon. Member of the Committee and Committee members convey their deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Mohammad Ayaz Soomro. Then, the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda.
The Committee considered the Bills “The National Accountability Ordinance (Amendment)Act, 2015{Omission of Section 28, Ordinance XVIII of 1999} moved by Mr. Mohammad Ayaz Soomro, MNA, “The Holders of Public Exchequer (Accountability) Act, 2015 {Repeal of NAB Ord 1999 } moved by Mr. Mohammad Raza Hayat Haraj, MNA”, “The National Accountability
(Amendment) Bill, 2016 (Amendment of sections 6, 25, 31B, and 33D, Ordinance XVIII of 1999}moved by Dr. Arif Alvi, MNA”,”The National Accountability (Amendment) Bill 2016 moved by Sheikh Salahuddin, MNA”, “The National Accountability (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and moved by Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, MNA”, “The Supreme Court (Number of Judges)(Amendment) Bill, 2017 moved by Ms. Surriya Asghar, MNA and “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 198) moved by Ms. Surriya Asghar, MNA and decided to defer the matter till its next meeting.
The Committee considered the Government Bill “The Evening Courts Bill, 2017 and decided that the Bill may be passed by the Assembly. The Committee also considered the Bills “Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article25A) moved by Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA”, “the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 224) moved by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA and “the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 224) moved by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA and decided that the Bills may not be passed by the Assembly.
The Members/MNA Ms. Kiran Haider, Mr. Rajab Ali Khan Balouch, Ms. Shugufta Jumani, Mr. Ali Mohammad Khan Advocate, Mr. S. A. Iqbal Quadri, Ms. Aisha Syed, Sheikh Salahuddin, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA, attended the meeting, beside them senior officers of the Ministry of Law and Justice also attended the meeting.
