Black Day marked by shutdown in IIOJK observed

Srinagar, October 27, 2020 (PPI-OT):Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed 27 October as Black Day, today, to express their total rejection of 73 years of illegal occupation of their motherland by India. The day was marked by complete shutdown across the occupied territory. All government and private offices, shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was thin.

Posters with Pakistani map showing Jammu and Kashmir as its part, Pakistani flag and pro-freedom slogans were hoisted in Nowatta and other areas of Srinagar. Indian forces’ personnel were deployed in strength to prevent protest marches, rallies and seminars against the 27th October 1947 invasion as well as revocation of the special status of Kashmir by Modi-led fascist regime on August 5, last year.

Indian Army had invaded Jammu and Kashmir on this day in 1947 in an attempt to subjugate and terrorize the Kashmiri people. The action was against international laws, Partition Plan of the Subcontinent and the wishes of the people of Kashmir. India based its case on an instrument of accession, which was later proven fake by independent researchers on Kashmir.

French President’s blasphemous remarks denounced

Srinagar, October 27, 2020 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) headed by Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, has strongly denounced the appalling Islamophobic remarks of French President Emanuel Macron. The MMU – a conglomerate of religious organisations of IIOJK – said the French leader’s remarks on Islam – a religion to which peace, humanity and mercy are intrinsic values – expose his ignorance about Islam.

In a strong worded statement, the MMU which comprises Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Dar-ul-Uloom Raheemiya, Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ahle Hadeth, Jama’at-e-Islami, Anjuman Sharia’n Shian, Karwaan-e-Islami, Itihaad-ul-Muslimeen, Anjuman Himayat-ul-Islam, Jamiat Hamdania, Anjuman Ulema-e-Ahnaaf, Dar-ul-Uloom Qasmia, Dar-ul-Uloom Bilaliya, Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, Anjuman Mazhar-ul-Haq, Jamiat-ul-Aima Wal Ulema, Anjuman Aima Wa Mashaa’ikh Kashmir, Dar-ul-Uloom Naqshbandiya, Dar-ul-Uloom Rasheediya, Ahl-e-Bayt Foundation, Madrasa Kanz-ul-Uloom, Paerwaan-e-Wilayat, Auqaf Islamiya Khurram Sarhama, Anjuman Tanzeem-ul-Makaatib, Muhammadi Trust, and other social and educational organisations, said that it is extremely unfortunate and dangerous to world peace that such provocative remarks come from the head of a state. The disrespect shown to Islam and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is highly condemnable, it said.

The MMU urged all nations of the world who believe in shared universal brotherhood and peaceful coexistence and the Muslim leadership of the world to take strong note of the malicious remarks of the French President and rein in the elements with such a mind-set which is a threat to world peace.

Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and the President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in a statement issued in Srinagar also strongly denounced the derogatory remarks of the French President. Reacting to the frequent publication of insulting sketches in France and the blasphemous and foul language used by the French President against the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH, he described it as part of nefarious campaign to malign Islam.

He said the love and respect for Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a fundamental part of every Muslim’s faith and belief. He said the French President’s remarks hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Muslims and he had clearly demonstrated his hostility to Islam and violated the universal principles of interfaith respect.

Lawmaker reaffirms Turkey’s support to Kashmir cause

Ankara, October 27, 2020 (PPI-OT):Turkish lawmaker, Ali Sahin, has reaffirmed his country’s support to the Kashmiris’ just struggle for securing their right to self-determination. The lawmaker and the Chairman of Turkey-Pakistan Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, Ali Sahin, on Tuesday attended an event at Pakistan’s embassy in Ankara to mark India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir 73 years ago on October 27, 1947, also known as the Black Day.

Speaking at the ceremony, he criticized international bodies such as the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for their silence on the lingering Kashmir dispute. “At some point, I understand the silence of the UN but what I don’t understand is the deep silence the Islamic Cooperation Organization has fallen into. What is the OIC raising its voice for if not Kashmir?” he said.

Sahin said that the commemoration of the 73rd Black Day for Kashmir meant this was the 73rd year of pain and grief for Kashmiris. “These atrocities in Kashmir are happening in front of the eyes of the free world,” he said. The West cannot speak of having human rights if it does not want for Kashmiris the peace, development, and freedoms they themselves enjoy, he added. Sahin underlined that safety would be unattainable in world capitals including Paris, London, Berlin, and Madrid before peace and security come to Kashmir and Srinagar.

“I’d also like to call on India, which defines itself as the largest democracy in the world, if you really consider yourself as the world’s largest democracy as you say, then, as the international community, we expect you to respect human rights in Kashmir at the maximum level. If you respect international law as the world’s largest democracy, we expect you to respect the decisions taken by the UN and Security Council on Kashmir,” Sahin said.

Asserting that Turkey would always support Kashmir, he said that the Kashmiris should not forget that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan always stood by them. Ankara will defend the Kashmir issue at the highest level as its own, as it did during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, he added.

Sahin said the Turkish government would seek resolution of the Kashmir dispute on every platform to secure peace, and implement international law, the UN resolutions, and will of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey, Syrus Sajjad Qazi, also spoke at the event. He said the Black Day marked the beginning of a long night of oppression for Kashmiris under Indian occupation, and a grave human tragedy that has since continued.

“This day is also a stark reminder of the broken promises and unfulfilled commitments made to the Kashmiri people. Promises made by India to the Kashmiri people for a plebiscite and commitments undertaken by India, when it had taken the matter for the first time to the UN in January 1948 and accepted its prescription,” he said.

“Taking advantage of the world’s preoccupation with the COVID-19 pandemic, and to perpetuate its illegal occupation of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir [IIOJK], the [Indian] BJP government has introduced illegal domicile rules in IIOJK in a bid to change the disputed region’s demography to advance its Hindutva agenda in the form of a demographic assault,” he said.

Qazi said that India had attempted to deny access to the world in the region by sealing every outlet through which Kashmiris could express themselves, and closing the offices of leading English-language daily, the Kashmir Times, and wire agency Kashmir News Service.

He emphasized that the international community needed to hold India accountable for its illegal and unilateral actions and human rights violations against the Kashmiri people, pressurize New Delhi to adhere to international human rights obligations, and allow international media, humanitarian organizations, and independent observers entry into Kashmir to independently verify reports of abuse, violations, and excessive force.

“We are extremely grateful for Turkey’s principled position and continuous support on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, particularly President Erdogan for highlighting the Kashmir issue in his address during the 75th session of United Nations General Assembly,” he said.
