DS PR Karachi visits Marshalling Yard

KARACHI: Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Karachi Muhammad Hanif Gul visited the Marshalling Yard Karachi commonly called as MYP in railways’ jargon.

He was accompanied by Deputy DS (Operations) PR Karachi Shahid Hussain Samo, Deputy COPS (Goods) PR Headquarter Lahore Hamdan Nazir, Divisional Engineer Kamran Ahmad Ghori, Divisional Transportation Officer (Ports) Ghulam Farid Asad and Divisional Signal Engineer Tariq Aziz Hakro.

The DS visited the entire infrastructure inside the marshalling yard including various yards and sick line. He called for further improving the efficiency of installed systems and works carried out there at MYP.

“Marshalling Yard is a prime facility in the freight service infrastructure of Pakistan Railways and freight revenue generation cannot be enhanced significantly without upgrading the provisions and facilities as per modern standards at MYP,” remarked the DS?

He directed the concerned officers for preparing the requisite proposals pertaining to the remodeling of MYP that must incorporate the mechanized coal and container loading facilities.

Jatak along with companions resigns from PST

QUETTA: Mir Raheem Jatak, President, Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, District Quetta along with his companions has announced resignation from PST.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Monday, Jatak said that they differed with central leadership of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek over some policies and that was why they decided to part ways with the party.

Haleeb Foods join hands with Kasur govt to support education

KARACHI: Haleeb Foods (HFL), the pioneer dairy processing company in Pakistan, has partnered with District Government Kasur for building a school in the area.

In order to facilitate the construction of District Public School Pattoki (DPS), HFL has donated seven hundred cement bags in phase 1 and another 200 bags in phase 2.

Expressing his views, Syed Mazher Iqbal, CEO, HFL said, “Haleeb Foods is operating in district Kasur since its inception and has always played its role towards community development. In addition to generating employment for the locals since 1984, we have always been supporting the district government in the shape of community bazaars, ration provision and support for special children to name a few .

Of late, the district government initiated a much needed project of constructing a school in Pattoki and who would not like to support on such a noble cause. Above all, education is one area, where a lot needs to be done at all levels from public to private sectors. We are more than glad to have put in our humble contribution for the development of the community.”

On the occasion, Osama Sharoon Niazi, Assistant Commissioner Pattoki said, “As always Haleeb Foods has been at the forefront whenever it comes to community support, welfare of the populace but this time the cause is even bigger, the contribution accordingly greater. The Tehsil government is thankful to the contribution made by Haleeb Foods and hopeful that others will follow this welfare-driven-suit”

The State of the art DPS located near Haleeb Foods Phoolnagar Plant, is spread over 18.75 acres of land. The students will be offered education from pre-school to secondary. Separate blocks for boys and girls will cover facilities like canteen, multipurpose halls, assembly area, science labs and play ground to ensure holistic education facilities to children of Pattoki.

Japan to work with Sindh govt on automobile, fisheries, IT sectors: CM tells

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister and Japanese ambassador in Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda agreed to work together for the development of fisheries, automobile and IT-based youth exchange programmes from next year.

This decision was taken in the meeting held between the two here at the CM House on Monday. The chief minister said that there were a lot of investment opportunities for Japanese investors in Sindh. “The provincial government encourages investment in the province directly or on the Public Private Partnership mode,” he said.

The visiting envoy of Japan said that they had selected automobile, fisheries and youth exchange programmes in IT sectors. The chief minister said that his government was working to develop the fisheries sector on international standards. “We have best jetties and large fishermen settlements,” he said and added it would be a great opportunity if Japanese investors came over to invest in the sector and use the latest technologies to further flourishing the fisheries sector.

“If Japanese investors want to invest on their own the government would not only welcome them but extend them complete support and if they intend the provincial government should become their partner, we would do it on PPP mode,” he said.

The visiting envoy also showed his interest in establishment of Japanese automobile in Karachi or at a nearby area. The chief minister said that his government would welcome the investment. “Japanese automobile industry would have a vast market in the region if it is established here,” Shah said and added we have sea routes to export the automobiles to the nearby countries apart from meeting the national requirement.

The third sector on which the host and the guest agreed to chalk out a detailed program was the exchange of skilled youth packages under which the IT students of different universities of the province would acquire necessary training in Japan. “This programme would generate highly skilled youth for development of the IT industry in both the countries,” Shah said.

The chief minister directed his Principal Secretary to develop coordination between the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad and the provincial Investment department to start official negotiations to materialize the projects.

Saudi Arabian Envoy: The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Awaf Saeed AlMalky called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah here at CM House and discussed the matters of mutual interest.

They thanked Almighty Allah that the severity of COVID-19 was on the decline in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Italian Envoy: The Italian Ambassador in Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and discussed investment in tourism and road sectors.

The chief minister said that an Italian firm had constructed Super-Highway from Karachi to Jamshoro- that was a state-of-art-road built in around 1965. He urged the ambassador to invite his country’s investors on behalf of his government to visit him and discuss the road and bridge sector projects. The chief minister presented his memento, Sindhi ajrak and caps to the visiting guests and thanked them for the call on.

Two rallies staged in Larkana against girl’s gang-rape

LARKANA: Members of Primary Teachers Association (PTA) Larkana district, took out a rally here on Monday, demanding immediate arrest of accused and justice with Bushra Rajpar who was recently kidnapped and gang-raped by criminals in Karachi.

The rally kicked off from Government Primary School of Lahori Muhalla and after marching through various roads, culminated at Jinnah Bagh where the teachers staged a sit-in. The participants were holding large placards and banners in their hands and were shouting slogans in favour of their just demand.

PTA divisional president Ali Gul Chandio while addressing the participants said that Bushra Rajpar is not only a daughter of a primary teacher and our district president Muhammad Suleman Rajpar but she is also daughter of our soil. He said daughters of Sindh are abducted, gang-raped and killed but their killers are not taken to task forthwith which is a matter of great concern.

Hajan Siyal, district Larkana president, said that faulty FIR had been registered by the police and the case should be challaned in ATC court and tried there for speedy justice. Hameedullah Tunio said that the ruling PPP was always crying on identical cases of Punjab but its lips had now been sealed as nobody had talked against it as loudly as they did for Punjab cases.

He said that severe punishment should be awarded to the accused involved in such barbaric acts and they should be made an example for others so that no such incident takes place in future across Sindh. He said parents were now extremely worried about the safety of their daughters which should be enough for the rulers to control this inhumane crime once for all without loss of time with iron hands of law. The participants unanimously demanded of the provincial Sindh government to take immediate notice and ensure arrest of all the accused and their facilitators, if any, and award them exemplary punishment to those found guilty.

Manzoor Mangi, Deedar Khokhar, Amrat Lal Oad, Abdul Khalique Channo, Ghulamullah Sangi and a large number of other teachers participated in the rally and sit-in.

Meanwhile, members of PTA Larkana taluka and City also took out a separate rally here which was led by Irshad Tunio, Oshaque Dhamrah and other teachers. They said daughters of Sindh are not safe now and the ruling class has no sympathy for them as they have not so far enacted any law against the crime.

They said parents across Sindh are extremely feeling turbulent after this tragic incident and the entire Sindh is not only shaken but disturbed. They demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to the accused kidnappers and rapists of Bushra Rajpar.

DC South with team inspects uplift projects, seeks smooth pace of work

QUETTA: Deputy Commissioner Karachi South, Irshad Ali Sodhar, on the directives of Chief Minister Sindh, inspected various development projects of his district.

ADC-I, Assistant Commissioners all, district officers of KMC, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, KDA and various departments accompanied him.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Sindh has appointed Deputy Commissioners concerned as head of operation for their respective districts and assigned them the task of regularly monitoring the same to ensure smooth pace and progress of work. The Deputy Commissioner South accompanied by all relevant officers travelled in a coaster and inspected various development projects for sorting out the problems facing citizen of district.

Giving spot instructions, Sodhar said that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had given clear orders that no effort should be spared in providing basic facilities to the people and all line departments required to make coordinated plan.

“We want to make our district and city exemplary through collective efforts,” Deputy Commissioner Irshad Sodhar said during a visit to Clifton’s Urban Forest on the beach. One of the major challenges of the present day is the marine pollution and lack of proper maintenance of the beach that affected the beauty of the beaches.

Urban forest is an excellent project for which every individual and organization has to play its full role. While inspecting the ongoing water supply and sewerage projects, DC South said that construction projects were not beneficial without improving the drainage system.

Emergency measures are needed to remove all obstacles to the supply of clean drinking water and drainage of sewage. Instructing Chief Engineer Water and Sewerage Board Aftab Chandio, Deputy Commissioner South said that all available resources should be utilized and immediate steps should be taken for immediate prevention of sewerage problems and immediate action should be taken against the negligent officers and staff in this regard.

During the visit to Ranchhod Line and Chakiwara, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of Sindh Solid Waste Board that the cleaning work should be done on a daily basis and due to the slightest negligence in this area, the area becomes a pile of dirt. To eliminate this, it is necessary to carry out this work on an emergency basis to further accelerate the daily cleaning work, it was observed.

Anwar Dumar, Chairman, Grand Employees Alliance

QUETTA: Anwar Dumar, Chairman, Grand Employees Alliance, Metropolitan, Quetta, has said that the protest camp of GEAM would continue till acceptance of all demands.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club along with Dr Abdul Haleem Kasi, President, GEAM and others here on Monday, he said that employees of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation had set up a protest camp outside Quetta Press Club, but despite lapse of 28 days, no response from the Administrator, QMC regarding acceptance of genuine demands had been received so far.

He said that the demands of GEAM had already been brought into the notice of Chief Minister Balochistan, Chief Secretary, Balochistan, Minister for Local Government, Secretary, Local Government and Registrar, High Court of Balochistan in black and white, but no action had so far been taken for addressing the genuine problems of the employees of Metropolitan Corporation, Quetta. He added that the protest camp of GEAM would continue till acceptance of all genuine demands.
