Massive crackdown against non-customs-paid vehicles in pipeline

QUETTA: Irfan Javed, Collector Customs (Preventive), Quetta has said that Collectorate of Customs Balochistan was going to launch massive crackdown against non-customs-paid vehicles across the province.

 

According to a statement issued by the Collectorate of Customs Balochistan here on Saturday, Irfan Javed, Collector Customs (Preventive), Quetta said that heads of different law enforcement agencies had been apprised of the crackdown to be launched by Collectorate of Customs Balochistan in close collaboration with FC, police and Balochistan Levies Force against non-customs-paid vehicles.

 

He said strict action against the owners of showrooms found involved running the business of non-customs-paid vehicles would be initiated. He said crackdown would be launched in compliance with the directives issued by the federal government and Federal Ombudsman.

 

PTI wanted to enslave Sindh police: Shah

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the federal government has resorted to cheap tactics after political failures adding that the transfer of important and capable police officers from Sindh police was the result of their frustration.

 

Responding to move of the federal government who has transferred DIG level police officers from Sindh, the minister in a press statement on Saturday, said that federal government would be responsible if law and order situation deteriorated in Sindh.

 

Shah said that PTI wanted to enslave Sindh police like they had done in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The federation facilitates to strengthen the provinces, but these strange and mentally poor rulers are trying to weaken the provinces,” the minister added.

 

Shah said that important officers, including IG Sindh Police, were being targeted without any reason, when they failed to get Sindh Police Inspector General transferred, now many important officers had been transferred without any justification.

 

“PTI does not tolerate police officers who have good reputation and in Punjab and KPK, they have transferred police chiefs frequently,” the minister said and added that Sindh government stands by all the police officers who perform their duties honestly.

 

Shah quoted the press conference of Sindh Governor against Inspector General Sindh Police and added that it made clear what PTI wanted. “They wanted that their land grabbers should be free and above the law,” the minster concluded.

 

SSM to also organize Women Premier League

Buzdar sees Baloch Culture Day to promote interprovincial harmony

LAHORE: On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the Baloch Culture Day will be observed with zeal across the province on March 2nd.

 

The Information and Culture Department has been directed to arrange special ceremonies in this regard. Baluchi artists should also be invited in the cultural shows and events being organized on Baloch Culture Day in all the districts including Lahore.

 

He said that Baloch Culture Day is an important feature of our history and associated with our civilization. “The culture and history of Baluchistan has a unique place. The purpose of celebrating this day is to enlighten our new generation about our civilization.”

 

He said that celebrating Baloch Culture Day in Punjab would promote national and interprovincial harmony as well as brotherhood. This initiative of the Punjab government will help in conveying its sentiments of affection and goodwill for the Balochi brethren. Only those nations can flourish who remember their culture. Other cultural days will also be celebrated, he concluded.

Karachi police claim arresting two inter-provincial drug kingpins

KARACHI: Karachi’s West police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two inter-provincial drug kingpins involved in drug trafficking.

 

According to a police statement, on a tip-off about hashish being smuggled from Balochistan to Karachi, SHO Surjani police conducted an operation near Lyari Sector 51, arrested two accused Muhammad Bashir alias Pathan son of Mehboob Khan and Sahag Bengali son of Mir Jan, and recovered three kilograms of fine quality hashish from their possession.

 

The police claimed that arrested accused were habitual criminals and had been arrested and jailed several times in drug cases. They said that further interrogation in the drug case was underway as the case had been registered against the accused, who have been handed over to the authorities for further investigation.

 

ANP Balochistan’s Information Secretary found dead near Quetta

 

QUETTA: Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan’s abducted Provincial Information Secretary, Asad Khan Achakzai, has been found dead on the outskirts of Quetta, police said on Saturday. In the reaction, Pushtun Students Federation (PSF) staged a protest demonstration on Manan Chowk by burning tyres.

 

According to police, the body of Asad Khan Achakzai was recovered from Nuhsar, an outskirt area of Quetta. Asghar Khan Achakzai, President, ANP, Balochistan, and Kaleemullah, brother of slain Asad Khan Achakzai, confirmed the recovery of the body. The police claimed that one alleged accused, reported to be the resident of Mastung and an employee of Balochistan Levies Force, involved in the killing of Asad had been arrested.

 

Pushtun Students Federation staged a protest demonstration on Manan Chowk today against the murder of ANP leader. The protesters burnt tyres on the road and chanted slogans against the government. It is pertinent to mention here that Achakzai was abducted some five month ago from Airport Road area of Quetta.

 

A case before the High Court of Balochistan had been subjudice against the abduction of Asad Khan Achakzai. The victim was the cousin of Asghar Khan, President, Awami National Party Balochistan and Parliamentary leader of ANP in Balochistan Provincial Assembly.

 

Kalmati declared eligible for Senate polls

QUETTA: Balochistan High Court has declared Naveed Kalmati eligible for contesting the Senate polls against the technocrat seat.

 

After the verdict passed by Balochistan High Court, Election Commission of Pakistan included the name of Kalmati in the list of candidates. It is worth mentioning that the nomination of Naveed Kalmati, a candidate of Balochistan Awami Party, was challenged by Balochistan National Party (Mengal) before Balochistan High Court. Now the number of candidates contesting the Senate polls from Balochistan has reached to 32.
