Italy to provide technical support to Pakistan in olive cultivation

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Steering Committee on Olive Culture Holistic and Multi-Professional Mechanism for a Pakistani Olive Oil Value Chain project was held at the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese and Secretary National Food Security and Research Zafar Hasan co-chaired the meeting, says an official statement issued here on Tuesday. ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said international acceptance of demand for climate justice is a diplomatic success of Pakistan. In a statement on Tuesday, she said establishment of an international fund for the countries ravaged by climate change is triumph of Pakistan's stance. Govt to lower down power tariff in near future: Energy Minister

  ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastagir has said all efforts are being made to accelerate the work on development projects to produce cheap electricity in the country especially in Hazara region. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Suki-Kinari transmission line project in Mansehra on Tuesday, he said development of the country is sole mission of present government. The Minister said the Suki Kinari project transmission line is part of the projects for provision of affordable and abundant power supply. He said the government is going to lower down electricity rates in the near future.

First Lady calls for maximum awareness about breast cancer

ISLAMABAD: First Lady Begum Samina Alvi has underscored the need for maximum awareness regarding breast cancer as its early detection is the only way for its complete recovery. She was addressing a breast cancer awareness seminar organized by Allama Iqbal Open University in Islamabad on Tuesday. The First Lady called upon women to dedicate at least few minutes for themselves every month for breast self-examination. She said this is the only way that the disease can be diagnosed at an early stage and can be successfully cured. Man, girl commit suicide separately in Lahore

LAHORE: A teenaged girl and a man committed suicide in different areas of Lahore on Tuesday. According to a report, Zara, aged 16, ended her life by hanging herself with a rope from the ceiling fan in Data Darbar area of Lahore. Police said that the girl used to live with her family in Data Darbar area of Lahore and she committed suicide after her family refused to buy her a mobile phone. In another accident, 46-year-old Javed Iqbal, a resident in a rented house in the metropolis committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan. He lived in Barki area of Lahore, police said. The bodies of the victims were shifted to local hospitals for medico-legal formalities. The police have started probe into the incidents.

Factory producing counterfeit fertilizers sealed in Nawabshah

  NAWABSHAH: CIA police and agriculture department team on Tuesday sealed a factory manufacturing fake fertilizers in Nawabshah. CIA in-charge Mubeen Parhiyar said that in collaboration with agriculture department team, the police raided the factory in Nawabshah which was producing fake fertilizers. He said that raiding team sealed off the factory and arrested two accused. Parhiyar said that the team recovered 400 sacks of counterfeit fertilizers and the material used in their production. He informed that the CIA was tipped about the factory, on which they launched a raid.
