Hundreds of thousands of residents of Tehsil Nasirabad are facing severe difficulties as the public campaign for the restoration of the local tehsil hospital continued for the 74th consecutive day on Wednesday, with protestors claiming the contractor has fled leaving the project incomplete and elected representatives are unwilling to take notice.
The protest movement, led by the Sajag Shehri Ittehad, is demanding the completion of the tehsil hospital as well as the provision of necessary medicines, doctors, and treatment facilities for the public.
On the 74th day of their demonstration, the alliance organized a short protest march in the village of Qaim Khan Magheri in UC Damrah. Participants chanted slogans such as “Save the Hospital” and “Health facilities are the right of the people.”
During the rally, speakers including interim president Sufi Ghaffar Channu, Asif Kathia, Inamullah Kandhro, Ikhtiar Ghanos, and Guftar Magheri addressed the crowd. They stated that despite more than two months of peaceful protest, the area’s MPA, MNA, DHO Qambar, and the Health Secretary have taken no notice of their pleas.
The leaders emphasized that the existing rural health center is unable to meet the needs due to a shortage of doctors and the unavailability of medicines, leaving sick people suffering from a lack of proper care.
The alliance has vowed to the public that the movement will continue until construction work on the tehsil hospital officially resumes.
