ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized on conserving water to ensure its sufficient availability for human consumption as well as to cater to the needs of different sectors, including agriculture and the industry.
Speaking to an event here in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said it is our responsibility to preserve our natural resources and to chalk out a development agenda for sustainable development that preserves the health of the eco system of this planet. The Minister said irresponsible development may cause destruction to the people like in Pakistan where the poorest of the poor has paid a price for global warming.
He also stressed the need for protecting the underground water and we should refrain from overexploitation of this resource for our future generations. He said we have to take responsibility to process that water so that it does not destroy underground water, eco system, and the habitat of our planet.
