Dr. Javed Anwar Shahwani, Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs in Balochistan, announced forthcoming initiatives to promote sports and support young athletes in the region, following a successful major sports event on March 23. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during a meeting attended by members of the Balochistan Sports Journalists Association, including President Muhammad Shah Dotani and other officials, Shahwani discussed various sports-related initiatives. He highlighted the planned Journalists Sports Gala starting May 3 as an opportunity for athletes to showcase their talents and emphasized the pivotal role of sports journalists in highlighting these events. Shahwani detailed the government’s efforts to provide training and facilities at the grassroots level, including appointing coaches to train children interested in sports at no cost. He cited the success of local athlete Shahzeb Rand as an example of what young talent can achieve with adequate support. The
sports department has recognized such talents and is committed to fostering more athletes who can perform nationally and internationally. The meeting concluded with the sports journalists’ association expressing gratitude and reaffirming their commitment to promoting sports and supporting the development of youth in Balochistan.
