SBP Promotes Digital Transactions in Cattle Markets Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

In a bid to modernize financial practices, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) today inaugurated a comprehensive “Go Cashless” campaign to encourage digital payments within cattle markets during the Eid-ul-Azha season. This initiative, which began on May 19, 2025, aims to diminish cash reliance and will extend until June 6, 2025, the eve of Eid.

The campaign addresses the distinct dynamics of cattle markets, where digital financial services promise increased convenience, faster transactions, and improved security for both merchants and buyers. These solutions facilitate a variety of transactions, from purchasing sacrificial animals to paying for essentials like water and feed, as well as settling parking fees.

The SBP, collaborating with banks, has expanded the “Go Cashless” initiative to 54 cattle markets across 22 districts in Pakistan. This effort highlights the SBP’s commitment to creating a digitally inclusive and efficient financial environment. The public is urged to embrace these secure and convenient digital financial services during the festive period.
