Ghulam Ashraf’s sensational debut century and a ton from Muhammad Sohail Khan lit up the opening day of the final round of matches in the PCB Regional Inter-District Senior Tournament (Karachi Region).
Ashraf, the Zone-VI wicketkeeper-batsman, smashed 161 runs in his maiden appearance, including 31 fours and a six. His aggressive knock propelled Zone-VI to a commanding total of 349/9 declared in 74.3 overs at the KCCA Stadium. Other notable contributions came from Haider Abbas (73) and Maaz Khurram (52). In response, Zone-III struggled, finishing the day at 57/3.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Sohail Khan”s 100, featuring five fours and six sixes, powered Zone-II to 312/9 in 75 overs. Ali Hasan (71) and Omer Farooq (55) provided valuable support. Zone-VII ended the day on a high, reaching 76/0 with Huzaifa Munir unbeaten on 60.
Elsewhere, at the Baqai Cricket Ground, Zone-V was bowled out for 222, with Nabeel Wahid top-scoring with 88. Zone-I replied steadily, closing at 47/1.
