Competition Commission approves PTCL’s acquisition of Telenor Pakistan

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has formally approved the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), a landmark decision that will significantly reshape the country’s telecommunications landscape and give rise to a new giant in the industry.

In a statement issued following the successful completion of the second phase of the regulatory review, PTCL expressed its gratitude to the Commission. The company lauded the CCP’s comprehensive efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of Pakistan’s telecom sector and also thanked the stakeholders who awaited this historic decision.

This strategic merger of PTCL’s subsidiary, PTML (Ufone), with Telenor is expected to yield substantial benefits for consumers.
